SpliffHuxtable.com…home of Dope, Free Hip-Hop Instrumentals for heads and other Hip-Hop bullshit….
That was the idea…..and now, it’s been a year. Damn!
All I wanted to do was hook people up with free, dope instrumentals, fresh and overlooked, raw an uncut, with a little toronto hip-hop mixed in. And I’ll be damned if I’m still here a year later doin my thing. Thanks to the heads who keep commenting and supporting by email, and some big shouts out to my local peoples:
Century Sam, Logikal Ethix and Unknown Mizery at MutescreamZ Mentaltainment, Corrupted Nostaliga, Stolen From Africa, Big Articulate, Nilz the Unklean, the always insane Bah…
And a shout out to those who make me do what I do do…teh interweeb bloggers who I shamelessly rip off but respect. still ;) Without these hardworking heads, where would we all be???
Eskay @ Nah Right, the crew @ Smoking Section, Robbie @ Unkut, A Different Kitchen, Noyle at ThoseTwoWords, fresh doin it big with 33jones, Dallas Penn, Cocaine Blunts: still killin’ it…aka brownsugar over in france, the always on point Spine Magazine, Tara Henley with her Northern Touch, DirtySound in poland, Joey @ Straight Bangin‘ Catchdubs and all the rest who link to me..

Really, I could have given you more, but you guys fucked yourselves right out of that now didn’t you? Jay-Z for four months straight? And here I am digging for obscure crack, and all you want is the McBeats….well, Im just gonna have to bring it extra solid this year.., fuck y’all!

So one of my dudes is coming to the Dot and you better bet Imma be there….even though Century has a show that night.
In honour of the man coming through, I’m gonna hit my heads off with the instrumental AND vocal versions of “Take a Look” by the Domecrackers…..wait a minute…whhhaaa?
Release to fan-boys in europe in 2004, Domecrackers was a one 12″ project from Spinna, Jock Max (oh, of course) and Soul Brother #2 Grap Luva, Pete’s lil’ bro, on Spinna’s venerable Beyond Real label. It hit Canada in early 2005 and I gots my copy. Very, very throwback ish…I can see why it was targeted to europe first. A slick little souled out beat bumps along with some of Spinna’s signature drums work, electro bleepery and a whole lotta soul. Grap and Jock hold it down nice enough, not really breakin’ new ground, but I guess that’s the point of this shit, right? Raps about raps, lovin’ yo wifey and gettin knowledge…I mean look, your downloading MP3’s off a Blog…you know what this underground rap shit sounds like…
I’m really just doin’ a service here for the guys @ Milk, who’ve been bringing in serious DJ’s since the days of the Rave era. So if you’re in the GTA on the 17th, I better see your ass there. Or else there’ll be drama in the streets! Atta Boi!
Unrelated update: Queen Street is teh gaye!!111 (If you don’t live in the dot, forget it)
No posts, been spending a little time wit’ the family.
Happy New Year y’all, and watch out: I got a lot of hot instrumentals to serve….and tommorow the last 3 albums of 8 crazy albums.
Peace.
