Some shitty news today.
Disco D., born Dave Shayman, former skinny-ass Ghettotech/DJ Assault prodigy turned somewhat successful skinny-ass Hip-Hop Producer committed suicide Wednesday. He was first known as a pioneer in Ghettotech, a mash up of Chicago House music, Hip-Hop, Electro and over the top beat juggling, then after a hook-up landed his CD in the hands of Sha Money XL, he scored a beat, a nice one at that, on “The Massacre”, produced “Turning me on” by Nina Sky, and re-invented himself as a Hip-Hop producer, doing some decent work for Trick Daddy and even my long time rap crush, The Clipse. He was getting nice with it, but, sadly (perhaps even more so than the years of bi-polar depression that finally drove him over the edge) he will probably be remembered as the guy who produced K-Fed’s streaming lump of shit “Popazao” and many other steaming lumps of shit on that album. From a platinum Aftermath album and working with two sexy broads like Nina Sky to K-Fed. I sense a connection.
Well, at least for Dave he can enjoy the afterlife knowing that there is no way K-Fed is getting into heaven. Not if there’s a God.
Read this piece by Josh Glazer @ URB for a good eulogy and some comments by those that knew him.

Went to his funeral today. Everything was sad, surreal, and I felt worse and worse every minute. A waste in every way, dude blew up like the rockstar that he was and truly seized his dream, I just wish I coulda talked to him during the weekend. That’s my boy from way back. I love that kid.

BTW Here in Ann Arbor and Detroit, we aren’t really talking about that Federline bullshit. He’s known around here for being a real live prodigy. Can’t speak on what they remember in the rest of the US and Brazil but it’s about the Fif track, the Ghettotech raves and just a quality human being.
