‘Cause life is a Game of Chess
Cleaning out my basement lab to move, I unearthed a stack of oooollld ass vinyls from my pre digital DJ days that I had never gotten around to ripping. Most of them were some straight garbage, but a few gems seem like they had slipped through my dusty fingers. One of said joints is this one: “Life is A Game of Chess” by Redfoo & Dre Kroon, some West Coast cats who’s 12″ on Jungle Records (?) here is the only I own, and even that I got in a 10 for $10 record sale (Big up Paul E. Lopes and Play De Record).
What makes it a twilight zone moment though is checking my links I see http://djespionage.blogspot.com, check it out, and motherfucker’s got this single up! Like Tomax, y’knawmean?
But that don’t change the fact this is pretty dope. Don’t really know what to make of the vocal versions (there’s some serious Bay Area belting going on) so I’ve linked up both versions of these fresh instrumentals, both produced by Red Foo himself, who as you can see up top probably likes smoking the old chiba chiba. Also, you gotta give it to http://djespionage.blogspot.com, who hold it down with 12’s all DAY. These rips from them cause mine was all dusty.

Just peeped the instro cause the dude with the blowout scared me and I was afraid his voice might be on there. Maybe later I’m more awake.
Eminem, Bizarre, Swift and Fuzz used this break on “No one is iller than me” from Em’s battle days before he got fame. I think I like this beat better although the Detroit version was pretty raw.

that’s some funny shit man…
i’m from Israel, and i was in LA back in 96 (for 2 months), THAT SONG was one of my favorites playing on the radio there… i always remembered the song in the back of my head, and last year, after a long time of looking for it, i found it. made my week… made my month… dope song indeed.
