Stabbing you, that is what I have to do…
Mr. Complex - Stabbin’ You
Mr. Complex - Stabbin You’ (Instrumental) - (Produced by Lee Stone) - (Download)

Much like the blues, Hip-Hop’s road to establishing itself as a viable genre and cultural force is littered with the forgotten journeymen who plug away at their MPC’s and ASR-X’s in obscurity, as did countless guitar players who lined the banks of the mississippi delta. Who is Lee Stone, the producer of this joint? Who knows? I stumbled across this old-assed single from NYC’s Mr. Complex, who was part of Polyrhythm Addicts with Spinna, Apani and Shabaam Shadeeq, and got a good laugh, as I’d been to the Ill Bill show last week (more on that later), and that was, of course, “Stab stab stab, goons goons goons”. Checking the label, I thought “Who the fuck is Lee Stone?”. Looking into it, no luck. So, I post this here to give a little light to a man who never got a name but made a real nice beat. This is what the underground is about…being an obscure-ass motherfucker but still doin yo’ thing. To quote Vast Aire “Underground ain’t my sound, it’s just my position”.
RE: Ill bill show @ Opera house last week…WORST SHOW EVER. “An hour long set!!!” . . . 25 minutes before the fat, weezing bastard got tired of the 150 people in the crowd (The opera house holds 1500, so that lets you know how ass it was) and left. No promotion, terrible openers, sound worse than my studio bathroom…the exact reason why underground hip-hop sucks in Toronto. That, coupled with the abomination that was Vast Aire (going on at 2? WTF?) gives further proof to my last post, why Hip-Hop sucks in 2006. Word.
