More Ayatollah…

R.A. Da’ Rugged Man - Chains (Ft. Masta Killa & Killa Priest)-(Instrumental)-(Produced By Ayatollah) - Download
I love Ayatollah. Call me a fanboy, I’m guilty as charged. With his album out, expect more here shortly: I’m setting it off with this single from Rugged Man’s last album “Die Rugged Man, Die”. Rugged Man claims that he bought the first ever Ayatollah beat sold, so it’s good to see him holding that link down.
Copping a extra-nice Horace Andy sample from the tune “Money Money”, Ayatollah speeds it up and gets into one of his Reggae style jams that heaps on extra gristle in the form of a Masta Killa/ Killa Preist collabo with R.A, one of the best cuts from the album. Dropping the “Money” angle he flips the “You’ll end up in Chains” line as the hook and lets’ the rest fall over some crispy drumwork, as usual. I always loved his description of making beats:
When I make beats, first of all, I make sure that nobody’s in my circumference. It’s really personal for me. My lady, I make sure she’s out and about. When she leaves, I go into my mantra mode. It could last thirty minutes, it could last the whole day. It’s all in my moods too. Mood has a lot to do with it. If I’m having a cool day, I’ll make an easy-going type of track. If I’m having a bad day, I’ll make something really aggressive, or thoughtful.

The real suprise from Ayatollah? He uses an MPC60 and Roland’s awful MC-303 “Groovebox” synth exclusively. Now that’s hood.
