I was shocked and apalled, mortified and stupifed that my boy Iron thought this was a Hi-Tek beat…heads should know it’s one of Japan’s biggest (or at least best known) Hip-Hop producers, DJ Honda. He’s been running shit since the mid-90’s, and his albums are a great place to hear (mostly) New York cats on some fire beats that got mostly slept on.

I like Honda cause he keeps it simple. Krush went off into some experimentalism, which is cool, but y’all must know by now I keep the boom-bap front an centre here a Spliff Huxtable HQ. So this cut,” Travellin’ Man” featuring the Mighty (remember the video?), from Honda’s “II” album (1998), has always been high on my mental top-100. I’ve also included the hella-rare 12″ only remix beacuse I’m just a fuckin’ nice guy like that. Just check those strings. Now you know why.

If any cats from Japan can fill me in (no homo) on what’s good over there production wise, I’d like that. Shouts to my man Yeoh reppin’ right now in Tokyo. Get at me!
