8 Crazy Albums: Day Five…Do You Want More?

Sorry, still no instrumentals…on break from that shit till the 2006, so just be happy I’m giving up anything.

First, a short explanation. I was going to post “Da Storm” today, a highly slept on classic from OGC (Bootcamp affiliates in case you don’t know) but given what happened in my city on monday, I felt it would be highly disrespectful.

7 People were hit and a 15 year old girl, Jane Creba was murdered on Boxing day out front of a Foot Locker right in downtown T-dot. Literally, on the busiest street, on boxing day, at 5PM a pack of “Bloods” and “Crips” (I use quotes because in case these kids didn’t know, there no such thing as legit Bloods and Crips in fucking Canada) started shooting at each other over some petty beef.

So no, I won’t be posting “Originoo Gunn Clappaz” today, not because of the media’s theory that Hip-Hop causes violence (which it can), but out of respect for this tragedy. It’s a tragedy whenever anyone gets shot over street shit, but more so when it has nothing to do with them. So today, imma good blogger and do good things.

Instead I’ll take it way back and drop this on ‘em. Listen to Black Thought and hear how music can have a message, unique to hip-hop above all other styles. Intelligent men speaking their minds, to me, is what it’s about. Not bullshit gang posturing. Hell even blog-celebrity and noted hater Byron Crawford called it their best album, and that guy is “teh ghey”.

  1. I understand how you feel about what happened in your city, I live in MTL and have seen a lot of bs like that going down. I really enjoyed that OGC album, do you think you can add it now? Thanks!
