I first heard of the man of many names (Sir Melenik, Cyclops 4000, Scaramanaga) like most everyone else, through Rawkus. He never really got the push he needed there to make waves like Monch or Blackstar or even Company Flow and was relegated to the real underground again, droppin’ all kinds of shit for Sandbox Automatic that I never got to hear cause it has no Canadian distribution. Shit.

So I was real pleased to hear this single that dropped ealier this year under his Cyclops 4000 guise, which he recorded with Kool Keith under, because it’s a total throwback to the vintage Rawkus vibe that put me onto production in a big way. I mean, he’s got Hi-Tek, who laces the joint “At you” (also featuring A. Skillz and A-butta on the vocal version) with a classic, soulful beat, and Spinna on the flip with “Let’s build for a sec”…talk about handling your boardwork..
